Police from the Lagos State Command's Gender Section have launched an investigation into a merchant at Ikotun Market, Sunday Ezeh, for openly disgracing his wife, Nwaneka Ezeh, by attacking and stripping her naked over her failure to bear a male child.

According to Premarv Media, the event occurred at 48 Baba Ijesha Street, Moonlight Bus Stop, Igando area of Lagos, where they live.

Nwaneka, the beleaguered mother of three, married Mr Sunday from Awgu in Enugu State's Awgu Local Government Area 14 years ago and they had three children.

Mr. Sunday allegedly became enraged and demanded that his wife leave his house with her girls so that he could find another wife who would bear him a male child.

The incident was initially reported at Igando Police Division, where Sunday was arrested for his actions, and was then sent to the State Command's Gender Section for additional investigation after Mr. Sunday asked his wife and three daughters, Joy, 13, Blessing, 5, and Miracle, 4, to leave.

Trouble was alleged to have begun after his wife, Nwaneka, gave birth to their last child, Miracle. When Sunday found it was a girl, he became enraged and hostile with his wife and children.

According to Nwaneka, her husband grew aggressive and blamed her for being responsible for the female children, stating that she brought bad luck by not having a male kid who would inherit his land.

He then promised to annoy Nwaneka and the kids.

As a result, Mr. Sunday stopped providing food for the family, stopped sending the children to school, and ordered his wife to leave his house so that he could bring in another wife.

While Gender Section operatives were still probing his actions, he appealed and signed a promise that he would begin providing both food and education for the youngsters, but he had failed to do so.

Rather, he went to Igando Customary Court in Lagos to seek the dissolution of his 14-year marriage to his wife, Nwaneka, so that he could no longer provide food and education for the children.

Mr. Sunday claimed in the Igando Customary Court that his wife was threatening his life and had denied him sex for the past year.

And that he was no longer in love with her and asked the Court to dissolve the marriage so that he could divorce his wife and children and marry a new woman.

When the matter came up in court, Mr. Sunday insisted on dissolving their marriage, while Nwaneka stated that she was still in love with Sunday and would stay in the marriage to raise her children.

When contacted, Mr. Sunday stated that he does not want Nwaneka again and that he lost interest after she had a miscarriage and the doctor informed him that the baby was a boy.

Nwaneka is pleading for help from well-meaning Nigerians, claiming that Mr Sunday boasted that he will use his money to ensure that Nwaneka and the children leave his house so that he can find another wife.
