11 DEAD, 10 INJURED AS TRUCK SOMERSAULTS IN KEBBI

No fewer than 11 passengers have died with 10 others injured in a road accident in the Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State.


The accident which happened on Friday, November 3, involved a Volvo DAF truck with registration number KWA 230 SKK.

The truck was driven by one 40-year-old Sule from Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto, according to the Kebbi State Police Command.


Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Nafiu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement, saying police operatives from the Shanga Division attended to the injured victims.


"The truck was carrying passengers and bags of beans from Sokoto to Ibadan, Oyo State.


" When the vehicle arrived in Giron Masa village, Shanga LGA, the driver lost control. 


As a result, it somersaulted, injuring 21 people to varying degrees," according to the statement.


"Upon receiving the report, a team of Shanga Division police officers rushed to the scene and evacuated the victims to General Hospital Shanga for treatment."


"The medical doctor confirmed 11 dead, while the remaining victims are responding to treatment."
According to Abubakar, the state Commissioner of Police, Chris Aimionowane, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased passengers and prayed for the deceased's peaceful repose.
