The Federal Government stated on Thursday that the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos will be closed from midnight Saturday, Oct. 21 to midnight Sunday, Oct. 22 for repairs.

Mrs Olukorede Kesha, Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, said in a statement that the government was ready to commence extensive restoration work on the bridge, beginning with repairs to the crucial sections.

According to Kesha, the federal government want to tell motorists that it is now working on measures to rehabilitate the Third Mainland Bridge completely.

However, in order to ease the pains currently being felt on the bridge, the Ministry will do palliative works on the most significantly failed sections along the Adeniji bound roadway on Sunday, Oct. 22 as a prelude to the total repair works," she stated.

She urged vehicles to cooperate with traffic officials by obeying and observing any traffic diversions as recommended for smooth passage.

"However, motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes where possible during the period of the palliative works as the Adeniji bound of the bridge will be closed to traffic from Saturday, Oct. 21 to Sunday, 22nd 12.00 midnight," she went on to say.
