According to the statement, the driver, who was caught for breaking traffic laws, stabbed Ojukoya to avoid detention.

Olajide Ojukoya, a Lagos State Traffic Management Authority worker, was attacked by an unidentified driver.

He was stabbed by the driver in the early hours of Sunday while attempting to elude arrest for a traffic violation in the state's Costain area.

This was said in a statement made available to PREMARV MEDIA on Sunday by the traffic regulator's Public Relations Officer, Adebayo Taofeek.

According to the statement, the driver, who was caught for breaking traffic laws, stabbed Ojukoya to avoid detention.

"Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority today detained a driver of a painted Volkswagen 'T4' commercial bus (LSR 966 YE) for stabbing a Lastma officer "after being apprehended for significant traffic obstruction around Costain round-about, Lagos," according to the statement.
He also said that the enforcement actions were taken out around the Costain round-about inward Iponrin following several warnings from the state government to commercial bus/private automobile drivers around the state to use designated bus stops before picking up or dumping passengers/friends.

"Despite dangerous driving attempts to flee, our enforcement team had successfully apprehended the driver before he pulled out a knife and stabbed me."

"After seeing the deep cut he had inflicted with the knife, he decided to strip himself naked and caused serious commotions before he was eventually arrested by policemen from the Iponri police station," said Ojukoya.

The PRO went on to say, "After his arrest, security officers recovered dangerous weapons - a cutlass and a knife - inside his commercial Volkswagen 'T4' bus."

"The government had confirmed that the arrested driver would be immediately prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to other recalcitrant drivers."
