Femi Babafemi, the agency's Director of Media and Advocacy, announced this on Sunday.

Babafemi stated that the multi-billion naira illicit substances were recovered at a facility hidden among the famed Alaba International Trade Fair Complex in Lagos' Ojo neighborhood.

"NDLEA officers intercepted $20 million notes suspected of being counterfeit during a stop-and-search operation on Friday along Abaji-Lokoja Road in the Federal Capital Territory, according to Babafemi.

The alleged counterfeit notes were discovered on a bus traveling from Lagos to Abuja, and the driver, Onyebuchi Nlededin, 53, was arrested. The day before, on Thursday, August 17, Jude Ndubuisi, 52, was apprehended with 2.2 kg of methamphetamine during an operation in Abuja's Kabusa community.

On July 7, 2022, the suspect was seized with 20.75kg of cannabis and was on court bail pending his continuing prosecution when he was apprehended for yet another narcotics offence.
