Mohbad's mother has revealed the life her son was forced to endure after leaving Marlian Music owing to physical attacks and abuse.
Promise Aloba, the late singer's mother, spoke to TVC about how he took good care of her and always wanted to have her around.

The following is a translation of her interview in Yoruba:

I don't tell people I'm Mohbad's mother because he was afraid I'd be abducted or murdered.
"I've only been in the new house he rented for me for five months, and he's already paid me three visits." He drove me from where I was staying before to Ikorodu, saying he intended to pay me visits from time to time.
He recently rented a large area with three businesses for me. I have yet to open it. He handed me money, which I used to purchase two large freezers and a large generator. On the day he died, he promised to send me N5 million so I could stock up on supplies.
His wife said she'll come see me, that I should find someone to assist me because we can't buy the products all at once, that it will take us three days.

But now I'm afraid since I can't go back to Ikorodu, so I asked someone to help me rent out the shop and give me the money. My son did not have fun; instead, he lived in fear. He was not having a good time.

When I come to see him, he sits right there, and I sit with him before taking him upstairs to sleep, but he shakes his head. I even assumed all of his difficulties and attacks were over, but when they beat him again lately after he dropped his EP, I told him, "These people haven't left you," and he usually went to the police station to report it, which I witnessed twice.

I was with him for ten days and had no idea he was going to die. I departed on Saturday, and he passed away on Monday. And I left on Saturday because he had a gig, and he begged, begged, begged me not to leave. So I told him that I needed to go to church on Sunday because I hadn't been there in two weeks and I needed to pray because I was losing myself. He agreed to let me go because I mentioned the church.
I informed him I was leaving because he and his wife were pranking me, but because he didn't want me to leave, he delayed giving me my meal money because he knew I was going. Normally, he gives me feeding allowance every month.
