A lawyer has been arrested on suspicion of murdering her spouse after discovering their houseboy was her biological son.

Abasiesebanga Ikoiwak, 36, was arrested along with five others by Akwa Ibom State police for allegedly murdering her 41-year-old husband, Barrister Godwin Ikoiwak.

The late Barrister had no notion the housemaid who had been living with him for years was his wife's son, according to the prosecution witness who appeared before the Uyo High Court, since his wife had told him the youngster was her younger brother.

Barrister Sunny Anyanwu, the deceased's friend, also testified in court, revealing that Ikoiwak died following a phone call in which he confessed that he was having troubles with his wife over adultery.

According to Anyanwu, the deceased stated that he reported the event to his wife's family, who summoned him to a meeting at their family compound in Nung Udoe Itak, Ikono LGA, but he did not return home alive.

Anyanwu, the case's seventh prosecution witness, also alleged that the late Barrister informed him that his wife was having a sexual relationship with her former boss, a lawyer named C.I. Odoh.

Anyanwu was apparently informed by Ikoiwak that his wife worked as a housekeeper for a Catholic priest, Rev. Father Maurice Mbeke, and that the priest impregnated her and gave birth to a child named after her maternal grandfather, who is now 19 years old.

The prosecution team, lead by Akwa Ibom State Director of Public Prosecutions, Barr. Joseph Umoren, presented audio evidence that was played in open court.
